4 new Gannet paintings underway

I've set myself the challenge of painting birds who live and feed around water.  I'm trying to create more movement in my compositions - so I've started with Gannets.

I've watched them at Bempton Cliffs and at Bass Rock where they live in colonies of thousands.  Seeing them feed behind fishing boats is a true spectacle.  They circle around the sky crossing your field of vision in elegant curves and then dive at high speed, squabbling and thrashing around for fish amongst the waves.  These huge birds are mesmerising to watch, glimmering white against the cool greys and greens of the north sea.
